Two years ago, when we were in the midst of building Star Wars: Commander, we dreamed about the opportunity to one day include content from the new Star Wars films. On December 3, our team was thrilled to reveal our latest expansion, featuring a new planet, Takodana, and two new mercenaries — all inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It’s my great privilege to work with the team that both created and continues to evolve Star Wars: Commander. We have been having an absolute blast making this game, and playing it with tens of millions of fans from around the world since our launch in August 2014!

    What is Star Wars: Commander?

Star Wars: Commander is a mobile combat strategy game, set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back. In Star Wars: Commander, you begin the game with an old mercenary friend on Tatooine, but the situation you find yourselves in soon requires you to choose a side — will you fight for the Rebellion or join the evil Empire? Once you’ve made your selection, you train your units and vehicles and create a base of operations. Depending on your choice, you can battle in alliance with iconic characters like Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia, as well as employ units like AT-ATs, speeder bikes, Wookiee warriors, and stormtroopers, as you rise through the ranks to become a battlefield commander. Along the way, you’ll build a base and collect resources to grow your army, complete story missions, join a squad and team up with friends, or fight other players for control of planets like Hoth, Dandoran, Tatooine, and more throughout the galaxy.

    Our Latest Expansion

Games are a lot like living worlds. They can grow, they can change, and they’re shaped by everything going on in and around them. We can play the game with our fans, we can listen to what they’re saying — and we can respond! But the most fun is when we get to unveil something really new and surprising, and watch everyone’s reactions.

We have a long history of introducing fun new content and authentic stories in Star Wars: Commander, but our latest update inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens is one of the releases we’re proudest of. This update features Takodana, one of the new worlds you’ve seen in the film trailers. You can relocate your base to this planet and utilize two brand new mercenaries for hire which were adapted from new species seen in the film:

    • The Luggabeast Munitioneer — You can hire the armored Luggabeast Munitioneer, based on a cybernetic-enhanced beast of burden in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, to support your army. These Munitioneers apply a damage buff to nearby friendly units.
    • The Dowutin Hunter — Inspired by a new species unveiled in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Dowutin Hunters are lumbering infantry units, hired to dispatch your enemies with shock and awe. They carry a grip of thermal detonators and a modified starfighter blaster to ensure that the job gets done!
