Mercs "ParaCon" Invasion Debriefing

Date: August 17th and 18th, 2013
Clan Involved: Buurenaar Verda
Mission Objective: To debut the Mercs at a major northwest Florida event, to promote awareness of the club and its goals, and to recruit.

Invasion Report: Members of the Buurenaar Verda Clan invaded ParaCon, a unique convention in northwest Florida, in support of its second annual event. This was the BVC’s first ever official invasion of a convention west of Tallahassee. Because of the BVC’s presence, members were able to successfully network with other convention coordinators present at ParaCon; as a result, the BVC was invited to attend multiple conventions throughout the southeast part of the country. Members also met and networked with Parjai Squad, the group of 501st members located west along the “Emerald Coast”. We were also able to debut the BVC’s booth walls, which have been under construction for a month and our new helmet-and-weapons display! Members were quite a hit at the convention and took turns “patrolling” the convention floor, where they were stopped for a variety of photos and even participated in a costume contest. A number of convention attendees stopped at the BVC booth and asked about the Mercs; time will tell if our recruiting was successful! All in all, ParaCon was a big success and provided the BVC with some great new connections in the Northwest Florida area.
